Artist Statement

To me, fabrics are what paint is for a painter. My main inspiration comes from the mystery of our existence, the question what comes after life, the interconnectedness of everything, astrophysics and phenomena that cannot be explained. A fundamental part of my work process is to constantly experiment with the fabrics I use. I bleach them, paint on them, bury them, embroider on them, expose them to the rain and the sun and dye them in order to change their neutral appearance and to give them more character and depth. Making art is a way for me to reconciliate the unknown and not tangible spiritual world with the world we call our reality in which we can feel, taste, see and hear things in more or less the same way. The more screens and AI are around us, the deeper the longing grows inside of me to create something with my hands to balance these two counterplayers.
